BRING O.D. JAWS TOGETHER, INDICATOR POINTER SHOULD REGISTER ZERO ON DIAL. PLACE PIN GAGE BETWEEN JAWS AT ABOUT (1/8 FROM TIPS
OF JAWS AND AT BASE OF JAWS). THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN READINGS INDICATES
THE AMOUNT OF TIP WEAR.

MODELS WITH KNIFE EDGE O.D. JAWS ARE CHECKED SAME AS STEP 3.

MEASURE A RING GAGE WITH THE I.D. JAWS AND OBSERVE VALUE.

CHECK DEPTH ROD USING GAGE BLOCKS. COMPARE READING WITH GAGE
BLOCK SIZE. IF THE CALIPERS HAVE
ADDITIONAL DEPTH MEASUREMENT
SURFACE VERIFY IN SAME MANNER AND RECORD ACTUALS.

PREVIOUS CHECKS ARE ACCEPTABLE, USING O.D. JAWS, MEASURE GAGE BLOCK COMBINATIONS AT POSITIONS ALONG THE
BEAM AND OBSERVE THE VARIATIONS, A TOTAL OF THREE READINGS (ZERO AND TWO OTHERS) ARE REQUIRED FOR CALIPERS UP TO
12" AND ONE ADDITIONAL READINGS PER FOOT OVER 12".

WEAR ON GAGING SURFACE OF JAWS, MAX .0005" FOR FIRST 1/8" FROM END OF JAWS.

ACCURACY OF 1 DIVISION OVER THE ENTIRE RANGE.

CHECK MEASURING SURFACES FOR WEAR WITH
OPTICAL FLATS.

CALIPERS REQUIRING ADJUSTMENT OF MORE THAT 1
GRADUATION WILL BE CHECKED FOR AN
"OUT OF TOLERANCE" CONDITION. ANY ADJUSTMENT OF MORE THAN
ONE GRADUATION REQUIRES CALIBRATION RECALL
CYCLE REDUCTION. ADJUST MICROMETERS PER
THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS.

RECORD THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE EQUIPMENT,
AND THE CALIBRATION DATA (HIGH,
MIDDLE, AND LOW READINGS).

EACH CALIPER AND VERIFY THAT IT IS
SERIALIZED.
